Sandy Centorino - President/CEO

Sandra is married to Anthony Centorino and is the proud mother of two daughters Steph and Allie who are 16 and 12 years old. The Centorino family resides in Cheshire Connecticut.

  • Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Sandra studied marketing and management at Mass Bay Community College.
  • Sandra worked in the wholesale clothing industry for several years, and eventually operated her own business at the Bayside Merchandise Mart in Boston. Sandra decided to become a stay at home mom for several years to raise her daughters.
  • While raising her daughters Steph and Allie, Sandra was employed part time as an instructor/leader for Weight Watchers International for 10 years motivating and inspiring her members.
  • In November 2000 Sandra and her daughters founded the CUREchief Foundation Inc. a world wide non-profit organization based in Cheshire Connecticut. Sandra currently works full time as a volunteer executive director for the foundation.
  • Sandra’s best friend Patti was diagnosed with cancer. Sandra was inspired by her daughters Steph and Allie and together they decided to make and send her a soft bandana, later named a "CUREchief".
  • In November 2000, inspired by her daughters and her friend Patti, Sandra formed a non-profit organization named -The CUREchief® Foundation Inc., which began in the basement of her home.
  • In December 2003 with the help of Stop & Shop Company as a corporate partner, Centorino opened the CUREchief Volunteer Center in Cheshire Connecticut.
  • Sandra’s high energy and tenacity has been a driving force in recruiting hundreds of volunteers and sponsors. Sandra travels throughout the state to create awareness, she make presentations and speaks about how one small act of kindness can change the world.
  • Over 75,000 CUREchiefs have been delivered worldwide to date.

Sandra’s passion and commitment for community service began over 15 years ago.

  • Member of the Junior Women’s Club of Newington for 6 years where she served as chairperson for Community Service, organizing several fundraising campaigns and special events for the club.
  • Served several years on the Highland School PTA as the Community Service Chair, Working with over 900 children and families in taking part in giving back to the community. Organizing and implementing several out reach activities.
  • November 2004 Sandra was nominated for Good Housekeeping Magazine "Heroes of Health Award" for her work with the CUREchief Foundation.
  • February 2006 Sandra was nominated for Business Times "20 Noteworthy Women Award"

Sandra’s story of the "CUREchief" inspires others to lend a hand, and she teaches others that just one small gesture can make a difference.
